What is the Legend's Club?

The Legend's Club is an exclusive membership for Active-FIT and Legend-FIT Members.

At MEDI-FIT we realise that the social element of fitness is just as important as the exercise class itself. We want to create a community where the Legend's in our community can come together, exercise, and then sit down after class and have a good natter.

We are looking for all the Legends in our community to join us!

Physiological benefits of exercise

As we age, we are at a great risk of osteoporosis, falls and injuries. It is important to build, and maintain, muscle mass and cardiovascular output to support everyday life.

A single session of moderate physical activity provides immediate benefits for your health. In addition, regular physical activity helps prevent many chronic diseases.

Immediate benefits:

  • Sleep: Improves sleep quality.

  • Less Anxiety: reduces feelings of anxiety.

  • Blood Pressure: reduces blood pressure.

Long-term benefits:

  • Brain Health: reduces risks of developing dementia (including Alzheimer's disease) and reduces risk of depression.

  • Heart Health: lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.

  • Cancer Prevention: lowers the risk of 8 cancers (bladder, breast, colon, endometrium, oesophagus, kidney, lung, and stomach).

  • Healthy Weight: reduces the risk of weight gain.

  • Independent Living: helps people live independently longer.

  • Bone Strength: improves bone health.

  • Balance and Coordination: reduces the risks of falls.

Emerging research suggests physical activity may also help boost immune function.

My Legend!

Meet Shirley...my wonderful grandmother, legend and my inspiration.  Before she passed, she was an active member of her community. Regularly engaging in community groups, projects, and volunteering her time for good causes in her local area.

She was determined, resilient and positive. With a get-back-up attitude, her positivity, drive and determination to battle back and overcome setbacks was an inspiration to me!

While the exercise kept her active, she gained more from being socially active in the community. Joining community groups and meeting up with friends gave her a feeling of belonging and reduced the feeling of loneliness and isolation after my grandad passed.

Psychological benefits of group association

Exercise and participation in regular group activities have been proven to provide many psychological benefits. Most notably it:

Improves:

  • self-esteem

  • cognitive function

  • sleep

  • confidence

  • mood

  • social engagement

Reduces:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • loneliness

  • isolation
